Background

Waterton Park Hotel & Spa is a unique and spectacular venue located on its very own lake, with awe-inspiring views and access to a nature reserve. The problem the hotel was faced with was a poorly functioning website that did not match the grandeur of their grounds. They had a lack of enquiries and struggled with conversion despite their impressive offering.

Approach

Our solution was simple: to create a striking website with better use of imagery, simple navigation and more call to actions.

Waterton Park Hotel & Spa is an 18th Century house located in the village of Walton, Yorkshire. Set in the world’s first nature reserve, the hotel is committed to environmental responsibility and promoting green tourism. The business has a number of awards and accolades, including 4 AA Stars, the AA Eco Hotel of the Year Award, 1 AA Rosette, and the Green Tourism Gold Award.

The Power of Imagery

We created a beautiful website to reflect a beautiful venue. It was our aim to let the photography shine, to convey the right message within seconds of users landing on the site. The new re-design positions Waterton Park as the perfect place to stay, the ideal base for sightseeing, and a sought-after wedding location. We used the website to tell the story of the hotel’s unique history, attractive features and USPs through brand-driven design and copy.

Analytics & Improvement

Using analytics and tracking, we have been able to measure improvement and success. Since the new website launch, we have seen a boost to average visit duration by over 25% (average increase of 30 seconds per visit), a reduction in bounce rate by 38%, and an increase in page views to over 1 million.

Waterton Park Hotel’s website wedding enquiries have also grown by 220% in the first 12 months since the site launched. An impressive result that has seen business for the hotel increase significantly.
